Species: Smallmouth, Pike, Lake Trout, Perch and Rock Bass
Description: This is one of the most varried lakes in our fishing territory. The center of the lake is very deep, deep enough to support Lake Trout. But the half east of the bottle neck is shallow. There is a rock shelf just ewest of the bottleneck. Excercise caution or your motor will hit on the rocks. Your motor may kick up mud and silt while travelling to the great fishing areas at the East end. Generally, the West end is deep and rocky while the East end is shallow and weedy. This is one of the best lakes in the region and commonly produces great catches of Pike and Smallmouth.
Strategy: The strategy here is to fish for smallmouth early in the day, pike later in the afternoon and smallmouth later in the evening. Troll spoons around the islands and for pike and drift the weedbeds in the west end with crawlers or weedless lures.
Things to
Consider:
If this is your first time fishing this lake we strongly recommend getting at least a half day guided trip. There is an underwater rock shelf and rocks everywhere. Do not go between the islands. It's a long paddle home on a windy day.
