Species: Largemouth, Pike, Bluegills
Description: This is a semi-shallow, dark and swampy lake. Almost the entire shoreline is ringed with lillypads. Water exits the lake to the East of the put-in and enters the lake North of the Little Lake Portage. In normal years, you can hear the water fall seperating the two lakes.
Strategy: I spend 90% of my time fishing the North half of the lake. For some reason, the majority of the fish come from that portion. I alternate between trolling with crank baits, spoons and live minnows, if you have them, and drifting a crawler along the weedlines. If the wind is right, I'll drift the weedlines with a crawler and splitshot all day long. Look for Blue gills in the northeast portion of the lake.
Things to
Consider:
This is a favorite lake of Bear Lake Fisherman. If you plan on fishing with another pair on Little Lake, you'll have to plan a portage trip to Little Lake. There is only one useable boat on this lake, so you'll have to ferry the others to the Little Lake portage. Mind your weight during the ferry, there is little freeboard available for waves.
