Species: Largemouth, Pike
Description: This is a fairly round lake that will deceive the new fisherman. The North edge has a shoreline, steep and rocky which builds the impression that this is a deep lake. However, if you were to take soundings in the middle of the lake, you would find it alternates between 5 and 12 feet over the majority of its acreage. The South side of the lake is weedy and well sheltered by tree lined cover overhead. This is dark clear pike water at its best.
Strategy: Many fisherman like to drift the center of the lake with a crawler harness or plowjockey when the wind is blowing just right. Others prefer to troll the North West side of the lake with deeper crankbaits and spoons for bass or pike. I have found good luck fishing plastic worms rigged Carolina style with a bullet weight in the weed beeds to the East and the South.
Things to
Consider:
A park ranger cabin sits on the southeast side of the lake which gets occasional visits so be in your best behavior when fishing this lake. Also be alert for bush planes wishing to land on the lake.
