Species: Smallmouth
Description: This is fairly good sized lake with varying depths and cover that allow for a variety of fishing techniques.
Strategy: There are a number of options when you leave the portage area. There are some good banks and a beaver house in this area. As you leave the portage area (to the right) and head up the lake there is a deep channel off of a rock wall that tends to hold some quality fish. Once you go past this area and move into the upper section of the lake there is a nice weed bed on the left (just out from a small rocky point). Just past the weed beds you will see a bank to your left with rock and fallen timber that has been productive at times.

We have had good luck using live crawlers, surface rapalas and 3" plastic grubs.
Things to
Consider:
Make sure you have specific directions on how to get to the portage on Bear Lake. It is a long way from camp and it can be hard to locate plus you have to go through the narrows. The other thing we have noticed is there seems to be more traffic on this lake than most of the others.
